Cosmo Films, an Indian manufacturer of speciality BOPP films, has developed a range of BOPP-based black velvet lamination films, designed to offer an intense black color along with a velvet touch to laminated products.
BOPP-based black velvet lamination films are available for both thermal and wet lamination in 32 and 21 microns respectively, and are glueable, stampable and printable. Along with giving a velvet matte finish to the laminated surface, the films are said to also offer excellent scuff resistance.
They are suitable for multiple post-lamination processes, such as spot UV, foil stamping and printing, amongst others.
The film compensate for black printing on paper for backgrounds. They need to be laminated to the unprinted paper before printing or post-lamination embellishment. Besides luxury packaging applications, black velvet films are also suitable for high end promotional material and stationery.
Commenting on the development, S. Satish, global head of sales and marketing at Cosmo Films, said: ‘The launch of black velvet lamination films has added a new dimension to our range of premium lamination films and the exciting fact is that this development can be replicated in other colors as well. The films have been commercialized and the response so far has been extremely encouraging.’
